These aren't marketing promises — they're the operating rules of the platform.

Licensed trades, no exceptions

Work that Ontario regulates goes to people licensed for it: electrical to Licensed Electrical Contractors (with ESA notifications where required), gas work to TSSA-certified technicians, plumbing to licensed plumbers. Home-Renovations.ca does not claim to hold these licences itself — it routes regulated work to contractors who do.

Permits are part of the plan

If a renovation needs a municipal building permit, that's identified at the quoting stage — not discovered halfway through. The permit is pulled before work starts, and we point homeowners to their municipality's building department rather than guessing at local rules.

Inspections at the required stages

Permitted work is inspected at the stages the municipality requires — framing, insulation, rough-in and final. Work isn't closed up before the inspection that has to see it, and passing those inspections is part of the project plan, not an afterthought.

Honest scope, honest quote

The quote reflects the project you described. If opening things up reveals more (it happens — especially in older homes), the change is explained and priced before more work proceeds.

Workmanship you can hold us to

Finished work should meet the Ontario Building Code where it applies and be plumb, level, sealed and finished to a standard you'd expect to live with. If something falls short, it gets corrected — that's what the complaints process is for.

Materials that suit Ontario

Freeze-thaw cycles, humid summers and real winters are hard on materials. Exterior and below-grade work uses products rated for this climate — proper insulation values, moisture management in basements, and exterior finishes that handle temperature swings — rather than whatever is cheapest that week.

Safety materials taken seriously

Homes built before the 1990s can contain designated substances like asbestos in certain materials. Where that risk exists — popcorn ceilings, some insulation and flooring — testing comes before disturbance, and abatement is handled by licensed firms.

Straight communication

No invented reviews, no inflated numbers, no pressure tactics. If we can't do a project well, we say so.
