Structural Renovations

Structural work is where renovation meets engineering. Removing a load-bearing wall to open a main floor, installing a steel beam, reconfiguring a floor plan or converting an attic into living space all change how the house carries its loads — and all of it requires engineered drawings and a building permit under the Ontario Building Code.

Done properly, structural changes are routine: an engineer sizes the beam, the permit is issued, temporary supports carry the load while the new structure goes in, and an inspector signs it off. Done casually, they are the most expensive mistakes in renovation. Our quotes for structural work always include the engineering and permit path, because pricing the construction without them isn't a real price.
